Car crashes are the No. 1 killer of teens, and the holiday season is a deadly time for teen drivers. But that didn't stop a group of teens from "singing a different tune" and spreading some smart driving cheer. Through an online contest called Holiday Holla, Danny Luebke and Carl Turner, both 18 from New Prague, Minn., got a fat check, courtesy of Keep the Drive.
For the Holiday Holla contest, Keep the Drive challenged teens to rewrite and perform traditional holiday carols with smart driving lyrics. After videos of the new songs were posted online, people across the country voted for their faves. The five teams with the most votes won a trip to the Mall of America, where they performed their song in front of platinum-selling country artist Taylor Swift, who also performed some of her own hits.
